How we chose
We started from the tools that appear most often in the major “best AI website builder” lists and the ones people search for by name, then judged each on four things: how complete the first site is, how much work it takes to get from a description to a published site, how you make changes afterwards, and the real monthly cost.
On October 2, 2026 we gave the AI-first builders the same one-line description of a bakery. Durable, 10Web, B12 and Hostinger asked for an account before generating anything, and Wegic asked for a $2.99 launch fee; Relume produced a design for a guest. Prices and features come from each company’s own pages, checked that day. We make SitesBy.AI, so it is listed first; the rest are in the order we would suggest them to a small business.
01
SitesBy.AI: best for a finished small-business site in about 20 seconds
Describe your business in a sentence or two and SitesBy.AI builds a complete site in about 20 seconds: the pages, layout, palette, typefaces and words, with photos, ready to publish. You can look through it before you create an account, which is rare among AI builders.
Changes work the same way. Ask in plain English (“make it warmer”, “add a page for catering”) or click any text and type, and every AI change is saved as a version you can restore. Sites include galleries, menus and price lists, testimonials, maps, video and forms that send inquiries to your email.

Squarespace’s strength is polished design and commerce: every plan includes a store, with no transaction fee from Core up. There is no free plan; a 14-day trial lets you build, and plans start at $25 a month ($19 billed yearly).

The headline price is the lowest here, $2.99 a month, but it means paying for 48 months up front ($143.52), and the plan renews at $10.99 a month. Ecommerce is available with 0% platform transaction fees.

Questions
Before you start
What is the best AI website builder?
For a small business that wants a finished site quickly, SitesBy.AI: one description gives a complete multi-page site in about 20 seconds, with no signup to see it. For an all-in-one platform with stores and bookings, Wix or Squarespace. For an AI-built WordPress site, 10Web.
Is there a free AI website builder?
Yes. SitesBy.AI, Wix, Framer, B12 and Relume all have free plans you can publish on, with limits such as a branded address, a banner or a badge. Durable’s free plan is a private preview, and Squarespace, Hostinger and Wegic have no free plan.
Can I try an AI website builder without signing up?
Most ask for an account first. In our tests on October 2, 2026, Durable, 10Web, B12 and Hostinger required one before generating, and Wegic required a $2.99 launch fee. SitesBy.AI and Relume showed a generated site without an account.
Can AI website builders make changes after the site is built?
Yes, and most now take requests in plain English: Wix’s Aria, Squarespace’s AI assistant, 10Web’s Co-Pilot, B12’s AI agent and Hostinger’s agentic mode all do. Many count these requests against monthly AI credits; SitesBy.AI’s paid plans have unlimited AI changes.
How long does an AI website builder take?
From seconds to a few minutes. SitesBy.AI builds a finished site in about 20 seconds; Durable says about 30 seconds after its three questions; B12 says about two minutes to a first draft; Relume took about two and a half minutes in our test.
